The practice operates a same day appointment system, although a number of appointments are available for pre-booking.
Appointments to see the doctor can be booked by telephoning on the day from 8am.
All consultations are 10 minutes in duration, and if you have more than one medical problem and feel you may need a longer consultation , please inform the Receptionist at the time you book your appointment.
Making an Appointment
When you contact either of the surgeries to make an appointment, the receptionist may ask for brief details of the reason you wish to see the doctor. There are occasions when a health problem is best managed by another member of the team, for example, the Practice Nurse for vaccinations or travel advice. The information that you give to the Receptionist helps us to make the most appropriate appointment for you and can help us keep waiting times down. The information you give is treated in the strictest confidence.
Some appointments can be booked in advance, but as demand for appointments is high some appointments are reserved and are not released until later in the day to ensure those with urgent health problems can be seen without unnecessary delay. Any information you give can help us give earlier appointments to those who need it most.
The practices are housed in modern purpose built premises with automatic doors and wide corridors and complies fully with regulations ensuring ease of access for those with disabilities. Induction loops are installed at both sites for those with hearing problems.
As far as possible patients will be seen at their allocated appointment time however it is not always possible to stick rigidly to these times as the nature of medical work is such that some patients have complex conditions that take a little longer to sort out. We hope you will understand if you have to wait a little longer but please remember that one day either you or a member of your family may need extra time.
The practices aim to treat all patients with courtesy and respect and in return expects patients to treat the practice staff likewise. These practices abide by the NHS code of
conduct and has a zero tolerance towards abusive or violent patients, who will be removed from the practice list and may be reported to the Police for further action.
Patient data and medical notes contain confidential information and are only accessed by those medical staff who need it to provide your medical care. The processing of patient information and records is strictly controlled by the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Caldicott Guidelines.
